Eons.com is the online community for “BOOMers,” those born between 1946 and 1964 and beyond, who want to learn and do more to make the most of every stage of life. The community is a place for you to explore your passions and interests, keep in touch with friends and family, connect with interesting people to share life experiences, and most of all—have fun!

There’s still a good chance that some of you are not exactly sure what Facebook is? Or LinkedIn? Or Twitter. You may of heard these names mentioned on the TV or maybe a son, daughter or grand child has even mentioned it at one time, but you’re still not absolutely positive what all the “hubbub” is about. Let me try to explain what these sites are and why they can be so beneficial to you…

I like to post news items here from time to time to help demonstrate that you are not alone in trying to get online and figure out what this whole thing is about with social media. I caught this article late on a fantastic Sunday afternoon and felt it told a good story to pass along to my own readers about the challenges in life, the challenges of CHANGE, and the challenges that make us stronger when we put our minds to overcoming them. I am sure we can probably all relate to various aspects the author’s tale, whether its us she speaking about or us telling our own story about a family member or good friend.

Marketing Guru – Chris Brogan, has a wonderful write up he did sometime ago titled – Making Your LinkedIn Profile Work for You. Dated, but still extremely relevant, taking the time and effort to build up your LinkedIn profile at the start will save you additional pain in the future (take it from me and personal experience!).

You send tweets all day but it doesn’t seem like anyone is even paying attention to you. What’s the point you ask. Like most social media, if there is no audience to read and/or listen to you, you are probably just entertaining and informing yourself. Could be entertaining in its own right but not what you intended…hehehe.
